Maria Cosmes
Maria Cosmes (b. 1963) is an anthropologist, visual artist and performer. She studied History and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Barcelona, and holds a degree in African Studies from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. These and other studies of interest include Gestalt, art therapy and oriental dance. Currently Cosmes works at the MUS-E Program at the Foundation Yehudi Menuhin Spain. Through various educational initiatives headed by the Plastic Expression and Performance group in the CEIP Baldomer Sola de Badalona, MUS-E's main objective is to foster tolerance, respect and value for cultural diversity.
Cosmes is highly active in the local Barcelona arts scene, programming events and exhibitions for alternative spaces like espai miau (with Carlos Pina, established in 1999), she is a founding member of Club 8: difusio de la performance and for the last 5 years has been the assistant director of eBent International Performance Festival, an annual festival of performance art established in 2001 that takes place at the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona and Espai Jove Boca Nord in Barcelona, and since 2003, with programs also taking place in Madrid.
Cosmes's work has been presented all over the world at various performance festivals, conferences and workshops throughout Spain, France, Finland, Germany, USA, and Canada.

Stidna! is a collective formed by Maria Cosmè Román and Carlos Pina Sales. Their work that is developed under the umbrella of the collective consists mainly of mail-art, understood as postal action, in visual poetry, installation and performance, from a perspective of political critic. Stidna! has participated in several national and international mail-art calls. With the names of (bajo seudónimo) and La Libre Asociación the members of the group investigate other aspects of the visual poetry language.
